Casino Fun Run was launched in 2014, with over 300 participants. We are looking forward to more runners across the Northern Rivers joining us for this event.

School teams of 4-5 students can compete in the Primary Schools 2km Challenge or the High Schools 5km Challenge. Entry is $40 for early bird and $50 for late entry. School teams are entered by completing the manual entry form below.

Event hub: All the action will take place at Queen Elizabeth Park on No.2 Oval off Hartley St. It is the heart of sport in Casino, There are two toilet blocks and there will be a Lyons Club food van operating from 6:30am and a coffee cart on site. The map below shows the position of the start and finish lines with respect to the ‘Event Hub’.
Parking: Parking is available inside the QEP complex, please take care when parking and follow directions of volunteers in the parking area.
Road closures: Hartley Street will be closed from 7:45am. It is advised that participants park within QE Park complex before 7:45am.
On the day check in: Runners can collect their running bib and runners pack between 6:30am – 7:45am from the check in tent at QE II Park. Your bib is to be pinned on the front of your running outfit.
Early check in: Early check in is available on Saturday 27th June – at the Greater Building Society, 75 Walker St Casino. If you pick up your bib on Saturday you only need to get onto the start line on Sunday.
Casino RSM 10km Race instructions:
– The 10km and kids 2km start line is on Hartley St adjacent to QEP II.
– A race briefing will occur at 7:45am in front of the main grandstand at QEP II. We require BOTH 10km runners and 5km runners to be present at this briefing.
– The 10km will start at 8:00am
– Stay on the left of the course at all times be that the roadway or the cycle path.
– The finish line will be inside QEII. We will have TWO finishing chutes; 5km and 2km 4 kids will finish on the left and 10km runners will finish on the right.
Greater 5km Race Instructions
– The 5km start line is located at Canterbury St.
– Attend the race breifing at 7:45am
– Gather in front of the grandstand at QEII at 8:15am to walk accross to the start line located on Canterbury St. We will have ushers to take you at this time or you can make your own way over using the pedestrian bridge accross the Richmond River. It is a distnace of approximately 700m.
– 5km race starts at 8:45am
Parker & Kissane Solicitor 2km Race Instructions
– Race briefing will occur at 9:00am in front of the main grandstand.
– Race will start on Hartley St at 9:10am
– parents and carers may run with the kids but MUST exit the run course before the finish line. We also ask that you fill in a participant agreement on the day. There is no charge for parents or carers to run.
Presentations: The presentation will feature medals to the winners of each category and some lucky draw prizes. This will be held at 9:40am or as soon as the results are complete. Prizes have been donated by the following businesses which we thank for their support.
Drink Stations: There will be two drink stations located at approximately 2km, 5km, 7km and 9km points of the 10km.
Results – will be available after the event in the Results tab.
Casino RSM 10km Fun Run
Open (17-39) | Masters 40+
This run will start from Queen Elizabeth Park and runs into town turning at the Casino RSM, and heading back towards Queen Elizabeth Park.
The top 3 men and women will receive a medals and prize money of 1st $100, 2nd $50. Category winners to receive medals.
10km Time Limit:
Local Police would like to ensure the roads are reopened as soon as possible therefore a time limit of 1hr 45 minutes will apply for 10km participants.
Open to anyone in the 10km event at no extra cost. Create your team, get at least 4 runners to enter and select your team then hope they all finish!
Greater 5km Fun Run
U16 | Opens (17-39)
This run will start from Casino RSM and head through town then out towards Queen Elizabeth Park.
Medals will be awarded to the first 3 men and women and the category winners.
5km is a good distance to start:
You don’t need to be a trained or experienced runner to participate, in fact the 5k event is targeted at encouraging people to be active and simply having a go. This event is ideal for novice runners, teenagers, walkers and prams.
Open to anyone in the 5k. Create your team online and get your mates to join. Don’t worry though, they all have to pay for their own entry! Unlimited team size but only 4 to score!
Parker & Kissane 2km Children’s Fun Run
Aged between 4 years and 12 years
The 2km will start on Hartley St and track east before turning around and returning to the finish on QE Park.
The 2km 4 kids will finish on the track and all participants will receive a medal! The first three overall will also receive winners medals.
Kids Team Challenge:
School or social teams of up to 5 kids (primary age) with the top 4 to score.
How does the team entry work?
Anyone can add a team by clicking on the ’Add your team here’ buttons above. There is no cost to add a team. The next step is to have your chosen team members ’select’ your team when they enter. Everyone is asked if they are a part of a team when they register, they then just select their chosen team from the drop down list.
How do I Enter?
Complete the online registration form by clicking the Enter tab in the menu. Your details will be taken and a secure credit card payment taken. The online payment system is used by many other Australian Sporting clubs and events including the Melbourne Marathon and Athletics Australia.
Casino kids love their sports and there is a wide range of sporting venues and facilities for soccer, cricket, netball, rugby league, rugby union, AFL, golf, squash, bowls, croquet, ballet and tennis.
There is also a skate park and excellent BMX track located in Crawford Square in South Casino.
Casino is loved and known for Beef Week, a 10 day festival that sees over 20,000 people visit our town to soak in the atmosphere and enjoy over 60 activities on offer. Walk across the bridge and have a look at the beautiful platypus sculpture that have been carved into the river rocks or do a spot of fishing.

Casino Mini Railway Our steam and diesel loco’s skirt the Casino Golf Course and farmland before arriving at the old Casino Station, which has been developed into a railway museum. Here the passengers can disembark and get a glimpse of the days of Casino’s railroading past. A round trip on our scenic miniature railway is about 4 km. Our trains leave North Casino station and wind through the beautiful Jabiru Geneebeinga Wetlands. The Wetlands are rich in bird life, including a yearly visit by a pair of nesting Jabiru which come to the wetlands to breed.
Passengers can bring a picnic and choose a nice spot to enjoy it then wander along the bush walking tracks before catching a train back to North Casino.
