The Greater Sydney:10 to Feature Three Event Distances:  The Herbalife 10km, Greater Building Society 5km and the Little Athletics NSW 2.5km. This article explains a little about the event on Saturday May 2.

Sydneysiders of all ages and abilities will be able to run for fun with entries open for the Greater Building Society Sydney:10 on Saturday 2 May at Sydney Olympic Park.Managing Director and CEO of Athletics NSW Greg Meagher said the event kicks off the 2015 Greater Building Society RunNSW series of nine community fun run events across NSW.

Mr Meagher said Athletics NSW is bringing professional fun run events for everyone across regional NSW and at the home of Athletics NSW, Sydney Olympic Park thanks to the support of three sponsors. The Herbalife 10km event will double as the Australian Road Titles. There is a 5km fun run, sponsored by The Greater, and a 2.5km event for children, sponsored by Little Athletics NSW.

“We thank our sponsors for helping us to bring these great events to local people,” Mr Meagher said.

The Greater Sydney:10 will also feature the Australian Wheelchair 10km event and the Sydney:10 will also run as the Australian 10km Road Title.

Greater Building Society CEO Scott Morgan said the Greater was getting behind the events because they bring communities together to be active and have fun.

“As a customer owned banking organisation, The Greater puts its profits into community events and charities that benefit local people as well as better products and services for customers,” Mr Morgan said.

Global nutrition company Herbalife, who sponsored the 2014 Sydney:10 event are once again showing their support this year with the Naming Rights for the 10km distance. “We are thrilled to support Sydney:10 event. Herbalife is dedicated to changing people’s lives through good nutrition and encouraging healthy active lifestyles. We see this as an opportunity to partner with an association who also shares our vision, and empower our Members and staff to engage with the community,” said Rod Taylor, General Manager of Herbalife Australia and New Zealand.

Herbalife supports the Herbalife Family Foundation, which is a non-profit corporation dedicated to helping charitable organisations provide healthy nutrition to children. In Sydney, the Herbalife Family Foundation currently supports The Infants’ Home. Part of the registration proceeds from all Herbalife Members who participate in Sydney:10 will be donated towards The Infants’ Home. “This is our chance to give back to the community, while also inspiring people to live a healthy, active life.”

Kerry O’Keefe, CEO of Little Athletics NSW said the 2.5km event was the ideal fun run for mums and dads to join their kids in a welcoming and supportive family event.

“Little Athletics is the Foundation for all Sports and the Little Athletics NSW 2.5km Fun Run gives every young child an opportunity to enjoy a run in a supportive and importantly fun environment. We pride ourselves on offering young people activities and skills that will stand them in good stead for their sporting future,” said O’Keefe.

Each of the fun runs will start from Dawn Fraser Avenue and finish at the Sydney Olympic Park Athletic Centre via the tunnel used in the 2000 Olympics.
