Greater Bank Dubbo Fun Run Event Timetable

Runners are to assemble on the start line 10 minutes before the start time.

RunNSW Membership

Entry details

Click on the Register Now button at the top of this page. Entry is online only. Payments need to be made by credit card via the secure registration system. A receipt of payment and further event details will be sent to your email after you register.

Event Check in and Race Bib/Timing Tag collection

Once you have entered, you will receive a confirmation invoice email. Please retain this for your event collection and check in. You can check in on either the Saturday or the Sunday.

  1. Early check in:

We will be providing an early check in option on Saturday 22nd of April between 9:00am and 12:00pm at the Dubbo Athletics Track. This is not essential and is only as a service so runners can simply be more organised on race day.

Participants not able to check in on the Saturday, can collect their race bib and timing tag on race day at Barden Park Dubbo from 6:30am.

  1. Race day check in from 6:30am:

Please allow time to check in on the day if you do not collect on Saturday. You will pick up an athlete pack at the event check in tent. This pack will include your Race Bib and your Timing Chip. The Race Bib is to be pinned on the front of your running outfit while the Timing Chip is to be laced into one of your running shoes.

Do I need a timing tags and event bib?

Yes. All runners will be issued with a timing chip for the Greater Bank 4km and 2km. You will be required to lace this into your shoe and return the chip after you finish. Runners who do not hand their chip may be asked to replace it at a cost of $20.


All runners must wear a chest bib which is issued at check in. This needs to be pinned on the chest in clear view of race organisers and volunteers.

Will I receive a t-shirt?

All participants can select to purchase a shirt for $15.  The shirts are a RunNSW running tech (cool dry) shirt. You will be prompted for a size when you register. Shirts may be picked up at early check in on Saturday morning or on race day. You can race in your new shirt!

What happens at the Start?

The start line will be along the home straight of the Barden Park Athletics Track.  Runners will be asked to assemble at the start line around 10 minutes before their race.

There will be seeded waves.

For the 2km the first wave will start at 8:00am.

The first wave is for faster participants who can complete the 5laps in under 10mins and will race for overall prizes.

Wave 2- Participants who will complete the 5laps in under 20mins

Wave 3- For participants who will complete the 5laps jogging or walking over 20mins





For the 4km the first wave will start at 9:00am.

The first 4km wave is for faster participants who can complete the 10laps in under 20mins and will race for overall prizes.

Wave 2- Participants who will complete the 10laps in under 30mins

Wave 3- For participants who will complete the 10laps jogging or walking in a time over 30mins

Where are the drink stations?

There will be one drink station on the far side of the athletics track, available every lap

At the finish you will be provided with a final drink station which will have water and fruit.


Where are the toilets?

Multiple men’s and women’s toilet blocks will be available within Barden Park. These will be clearly marked on the day.

Is there parking?

Plenty of Parking will be available surrounding and within Barden Park. Parking attendants will not allow parking on the course however so please allow parking attendants to direct you on the day.

Finish Line

The finish is quite exciting for both participants and spectators.

The race will start exactly where it finishes, after 5laps for the 2km and after 10laps for the 4km. There will be lap counters in case you miscount and bibs to ensure accurate timing.

Smile and enjoy your moment as you cross the finish line! You must also ensure that you cross the blue finish mats with your timing chip attached to your shoes. Do not slow down until after you cross the mats.

Post Event Area

After the finish volunteers will direct you to the post event recovery area where water and fruit will be available. Your timing chip will also be collected in this area and placed in the buckets provided. Do not leave with your timing chip.

Greater Bank Fun Run

The Greater Bank Dubbo Fun Run welcomes runners, joggers, plodders, walkers and pushes of wheelchairs and prams. It is an event for all ages and all abilities!


How do I enter for the 2017 Greater Dubbo Fun Run?

Online entries are now open and will continue until race day. Enter now Below are the instructions on how to enter.

1. Select the Register Now button displayed at the top of this page

2. Select your ANSW or Little A’s club, home parkrun or social running team from the team drop down menu. If you are not in a team or club just select Continue.

3. Enter your details, including contact details and you will need a VISA or MasterCard to pay for your entry fee online.

4. Please note there is a transaction fee for the online portal supplier the Active Network. This is between $1.40 (individual) and $3.10 (for the late team entry) which is added onto your total.

5. You will receive an email verifying your entry, please keep this email and also check you have entered correctly via the ‘Confirmed Entry’ button on the Register Now home page.

6. We will also subscribe you to our Athletics NSW emails concerning other events within the RunNSW series.

Entry Fees
Please note the following entries fees below. Entry Fees include Member Fee (Member of an affiliated Athletics NSW club or a member of RunNSW) or Non Member Fee (general public).

There is also two team categories where teams of 3-6 can be entered with the first 3 finishers to score for the team.

Little Athletics 2km Teams: $30 (early bird) and $40 (late)

Greater 4km School Teams: $30 (early bird) and $40 (late)

Greater Bank Dubbo Fun Run Training Group

John Robbins of Activate Running Coaching will be running regular training sessions to assist folks preparing for the upcoming Greater Bank Dubbo Fun Run. RunNSW and John are offereing a 6 week training program where participants can join in one weekly training sessions on Thursday evenings and have a program to take them through the rest of the week. The sessions will be aimed at preparing runners for the either the 8km or 4km events to be held on April 10. The sessions will be fun and engaging and are for beginner to intermediate runners.
Time: 6.15pm for a 6.30 start
Dates: Thursday 2nd March 6th April
Location: Barden Park Regional Athletics Centre, Gipps St, Dubbo
Cost: $30 per participant for 6 sessions
Ability Level: Anyone to come along. The sessions are generally about 45 minutes of activity with a warm down to follow. Any pace is fine and coach John Robbins will adjust the planned session for your level of fitness.
How to join up: Simply fill in the online rego form and your details will be passed onto John Robbins of Activate Running Coaching. You will be welcomed on the night by John and introduced to the other participants.

TRACKrun Dubbo 

The official training events for the Greater Bank Dubbo fun run are Dubbo parkrun and TRACKrun Dubbo. Parkrun happens every saturday morning and TRACKrun is a new concept that will occur twice before the Dubbo Fun Run.  Supported by Dubbo City Council and Athletics NSW the trackrun concept will provide runners with the opportunity to compete in an organised event on the newly developed Barden Park Regional Athletics Centre.

Two events are planned with the aim to have a monthly re occurrence if successful.  There will be two distances held at every trackrun night with a longer distance between 2.4km to 5km held first and a shorter distance event between 600m 1km held second. Runners can choose to do either one or both distances.


Event Program


Thursday 17th March – 2nd edition!

6:00pm Gates open for warm up and registration.

6:30pm 2.4km trackrun (6 laps)

7:00pm 800m trackrun (2 laps)


Results will be made available at the Athletics NSW website straight after the event. Water and fruit will be made available after the races and plans will be made to open a canteen depending on likely participants.

How do enter

Entry will be on the night and is free. Participants will need to complete a simple Athletics NSW form for insurance purposes. Please indicate your interest by visiting the event facebook page. This will help us cater accordingly.

Dubbo parkrun

Dubbo parkrun is one of a global series of weekly free 5km runs. The Dubbo version starts and Finishes at Sandy Beach Park, Dubbo every saturday morning at 8:00am. Its for all abilities and the perfect way to get ready for the Greater BankDubbo Fun Run.
